Sounds Funny

I discovered a few days ago that I treat my seat on the shuttle to work the same as I do my seat in church. I ALWAYS sit in the same seat, or darned close to it.

I discovered you miss so many wonderful pictures when you sit on only one side.

Today was so beautiful and the sun was shining so brightly, especially after several days of dreary weather, that I decided to sit on the other side of the shuttle. Not only going to work but also coming back. I snapped pictures every few minutes, hoping to capture the ambiance of this beautiful country. I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures as much as I did taking them.

My future Granddaughter

Ella

There’s something that moves within me, the Holy Spirit of God, when I sit in His presence in His temple. I’m afraid I can’t explain it where unbelievers will understand, but I can tell you, first hand, He IS real! I feel Him so strongly this weekend as I sit in His presence this very moment, unable to stop my tears of sadness rolling down my face. My baby is expecting a baby girl next Friday, May 1st, and I’ll be 4,000 miles away. I try so hard to be brave, but in His presence, I’m real. He’s My Dad and I’m His daughter, no matter what. I can cry out to Him and He hears me. I know He’ll get me through this, although it will be difficult. I can tell you something I realized this morning sitting with Him, I don’t care how much it costs, I WILL find a way to visit my beautiful granddaughter as soon as I can. I love you to the moon Kristina Elizabeth Haskins and am sad that I won’t be with you, but PLEASE know I’m with you in spirit.

Sunday early afternoon pondering

Yesterday I was blessed to participate in an online Coffee and Community event with my sister’s in Christ at home in Yorktown, Virginia. To say I was moved would be a huge understatement. Other than fellowship with sister’s back home, what affected me most was our time of Worship. I realized how much I missed listening to and raising my voice to MY Lord and Savior! We’ve been in quarentine so long, not to mention being in a new location without an opportunity to connect with other Christians. Today, with tears streaming down my face, I’m enjoying a special time of Worship with Anthem Lights on YouTube. Thank you Northside Christian Church!

Thankful for social media!

First Authentic Italian Pizza

We received notification yesterday, Friday, 24 April 2020, that some of the Italian restrictions will be lifted and we will be allowed to order delivery from local Italian restaurants! Effective Monday, 27 April 2020 – after my arrival in Naples, Italy on Saturday, 7 March, I will eat my very first authentic Italian pizza! I am so excited!!! I will be certain to post pictures and my professional review (that’s really a joke). Here’s a picture of the menu I accessed on a Facebook page for my location. I think I’ll start with the Margaretta pizza!

I just read the bottom of this menu – and guess what it says, CLOSED ON MONDAY!! What on earth! It may be Tuesday before I have that pizza!

First European Bread Purchase

While grocery shopping in the commissary this morning, I decided to purchase bread from the bakery! I was so excited to try something new! I purchased the bread pictured below even though my I had no idea what it was. I can honestly say I’ve not met a bread I didn’t like! I’m including an internet photo of the description, if you’re interested in reading about the bread.

I’ll let you know if it’s good! I have a feeling it is!

Adventures in Italian cooking

While chatting with my girls at home, I told them I was planning to learn to cook authentic Italian food while I’m here (and can’t do anything else!). On the ride back from the office yesterday I decided to “Google” EASY AUTHENTIC ITALIAN RECIPES. I was so excited when the first recipe appeared with only three ingredients. I immediately thought to myself, well I can certainly do that! UNTIL I “Googled” the ingredient I didn’t recognize. That’s when I thought, oh heaven’s NO!

NO THANK YOU!

Eventful Weekend

Last night I had the joy of “zoom”-ing with my friends from the United States!

Debbie-upper right, Tara-lower left and me-lower right

Long story short, I was inspired to do some grocery shopping and try my hand at “cooking” in my hotel room, aka Coronavirus residence.

I purchased REAL Italian pasta –
De Cecco brand Vermicelli and Rigatoni
An AWESOME cheese shredder
A saute pan, spatula and little ice cube trays (just for fun)
My masterpiece salad for lunch
A break to give the new Netflix show
Outer Banks a second chance

Stay tuned, more to come…
